Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Inceptmail (the "Service"), operated at inceptmail.com and inceptmail.dev. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Our website uses cookies and Google Analytics to understand how it is used, as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the website you acknowledge this.

2. The Service

Inceptmail provides private, persistent test inboxes. You create projects, add inboxes to them, and receive at addresses of the form prefix.project-slug@inceptmail.dev the test email your applications send. The Service is a development and testing tool. It is not designed to be a production mailbox, an email archive, or a place to keep the only copy of important information.

3. Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract.
• You are responsible for your account, its credentials, and activity under it.
• Provide accurate information and tell us promptly at support@inceptmail.com about any unauthorized use.
• Project slugs are globally unique because they form part of a real email address. We may reclaim or refuse a slug that infringes someone's rights or is misleading.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe the rights of others.
• Use inboxes to send, relay, or receive spam, phishing, malware, or other abusive or fraudulent content, or to impersonate a person or organization.
• Use test inboxes to receive real customer data, payment card data, health data, or other sensitive personal information of third parties.
• Use inboxes to sign up for or verify accounts on third-party services in ways that violate those services' terms, or to evade bans or limits.
• Probe, scan, or attack the Service, attempt to access another account's data, bypass plan limits (including by repeatedly deleting and recreating resources), or overload the Service.
• Resell or provide the Service to third parties without our written consent.

We may filter, refuse, or remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice where necessary to protect the Service.

5. Plans, limits, and billing

• Free: $0, 1 project, up to 3 inboxes per project, 3 members per project, 500 received emails a month, and 7 days of message history.
• Pro: $8.99 per month, up to 5 projects, up to 10 inboxes per project, 10 members per project, 10,000 received emails a month, and 90 days of message history.
• The monthly email limit counts messages we accept across all of your projects and resets every month, on your billing date on Pro and on the monthly anniversary of your sign-up date on Free. Once it is reached, further mail is not stored and may be rejected back to its sender until the reset. Member limits count you, your members, and pending invitations.
• Messages older than your plan's message history are deleted automatically, along with their attachments. Upgrading extends the history for existing messages, downgrading shortens it and older messages are then deleted.
• Paid plans renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Taxes are calculated and collected by Paddle, and Paddle's terms apply to the transaction, including its refund handling. Contact us at support@inceptmail.com if you have a billing problem.
• If you move from Pro to Free and you are over the Free limits, you choose which project and inboxes stay active. The rest become read-only (frozen) and do not receive new mail until you upgrade again or reduce your usage. The choice is offered once per downgrade, and changing it later requires Pro.
• We may change prices or plan limits with reasonable advance notice. Changes to a paid plan apply from your next renewal.

6. Deleting content

When you delete a project or inbox it is scheduled for permanent deletion 24 hours later. During that time it keeps occupying its plan slot and its slug or prefix, and you can restore it. After the period ends it is permanently deleted along with its messages and attachments and cannot be recovered. You are responsible for exporting anything you need to keep.

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the content you and your applications send to your inboxes. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, and display that content solely to provide the Service to you and your invited members. You are responsible for the content, for having the right to receive it, and for who you grant access to.

8. Our rights

The Service, its software, branding, and design belong to Inceptmail and its licensors. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service. Feedback you give us may be used without obligation to you.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and email delivery depends on third-party networks outside our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes where practical.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if your use threatens the Service or other users. On termination your right to use the Service ends and your data will be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Inceptmail will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify Inceptmail against claims and costs arising from your content or your breach of these Terms or the law, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material we will give you notice by email or within the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

15. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Inceptmail about the Service. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Inceptmail is established, without regard to conflict of law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.
